tillaart36, Archeris, thanks guys
Yeah, they are amazing speakers I think, which is why I'm putting so much work into this

Tillaart, get back into the scene

Heres a new render, and its cleaner Sathe (blaim the slight banding on jpg). I only added brightness/contrast in Photoshop, but other than that, its all Max.
The noise has been due to the sphere lights in Vray I've found, as this render only has a dome light.

Thanks for the link also. The plugins not as expensive as I thought it'd be, so it may be worth me looking into.

I've adjusted the connector buttons slightly, and I've added the power switch. Work has been slow tonight as I couldn't get energised, but I'm getting there:

I can't thank you enough

Updates early this morning. Renders are okay, but mainly just to show the extra detail I've added. I believe the connections are now finished:

VGA Detail:

Serious problems occuring with RAM now I thought my computer was good! haha
I think maybe its because sometimes I become lasy with polys, and maybe add too many where maybe they aren't needed to control.

Hi Kage! I love the details you're pumping into it. For your memory problem, did you instance the screws instead of copy them? I think it could help free a bit of ram for your other details.

Thanks you two It pleases me that you enjoy the work I'm putting into this.
Its took so long... so so long Unlike what usually happens though, because I've not been messing with materials much, I'm actually getting the models finished!

Still a bit of tinkering to do with a few of the objects, and of past objects for the scene, and then I can start with the mapping (I'm not looking forward to that, and may need help? )

Work left:

Place notches on VGA connector,
Rework the sub grill surround mesh,
Add some circuitary to the back of the pod,
Fix some problems with the base of the speaker,
and finally, start and finish the base for the centre speaker.

MrArmless, I'll have to check that, thanks I didn't know that would save memory. You've got me thinking of maybe using a proxy object as well to add the screws.

Some updates hopefully later

Right, I have to go to bed since I'm up for work earlier, but I really wanted to stay up to make sure the computer actually finished rendering this shot (that shows some dedication right there ). Been having tonnes of memory issues, so I'm surprised I've actually managed to finish one.

So, I've started work on the textures (only the top portion of the text is in, and you may notice I've spelt Center, the English way, Centre, which isn't true to reality, but this was just a place holder to get a feel.
I've also worked quite heavily on the shaders.

I hope you like it now

Hopefully another month, and this model set will hopefully be finished My first finished fully detailed model of all time, yay

Crits/suggestions welcome always

Yeaah that looks great

These textures are just wrapped as a plane shape? Do you need to texture parts that are harder to unwrap or no? Because you said once, if i remember correctly, you never really got to harder unwrapping parts so this could be the ideal project to start on it because it's looking so good that it will get (and keep) you motivated...

But texturing looks very good as it is anyways!

I have a favor : can you render or take a screen of a very close-up of the bolt and the screw? Because I like how they look and it seems they have a very detailed modeling...I tried these kinds of screws and never really got it to look right so maybe a wire could help ...

Anyways nice update!

EDIT: BTW you said you did dof in photoshop or is this physical camera? If it's in photoshop I like to know how to do it but maybe we can talk on msn once about that keep going!

Your project is becomming cooler and cooler Kage, that's some pretty realistic shading right there. One thing that pops out a bit to me is the red on the buttoms. At the moment the color feels too saturated. I think on normal hardware it's usually not quite that intense. Otherwise, good job and keep it up!

Thanks The texture is just a box based UVW, but I did actually render the UVW's out to get the positions for the text, so that I have learnt how to do.

I don't know wheather it'll get more complex than that though, as most of the objects do not need textures. The only thing I can think of is if I decide to model a part of my room, in which case, I may texture some dust, and wear.

I will do Renders take forever now. That render above took around 1 hour 40. The screw though was just a box, with the right amount of sides, and then cut into, and positioned into a cylinder shape

As for the camera, it is a Physical camera yes, but the blurring is all in Photoshop, manually created. I'm still trying to get the Z-Depth pass to work with this. It'd be mad I think to render the DOF though, as the metal work takes ages on its own, without that as well, haha

Thanks for the compliment. I want to see your room being carried on
I do agree with you on the red. I think its because I messed a lot with Contrast/brightness etc to get the right colours on the blacks, but never thought about what it'd do to the red. Easily fixed though!
