Sexy. I suppose there is not much point using mental ray to create the DoP if you are not animating. Seems like everything is working very well at the moment, keep it up

awesome modelling and great shading!!
I can see some chromatic aberration: is this a post effect or direct in render?

Yes kage this shader looks good, even much better as when i fiddled around with it...

The link is here (be warned for some ppl the pics don't work somehow):

http://evermotion.org/index.php?unfo...fold=exclusive

It says you need vray 1.5 final sp but i tried to use the maps and fiddle around with it you just not have all the parameters from the tut if you have an older version...

For the renders, they look great but I'm wondering if there's not tóó much dof...dunno maybe a tad bit less wouldn't be bad for the renders but maybe you experimented with this allready...I just have the feeling at for example the volume knob (if that's the word) which is a small object is allready blurred on one side and sharp on the focused side...I don't know maybe im wrong...

For the renders im not saying they don't look stunning :P

Keep it up, great work !!

Fantastic WIP. Keep it up. Your attention to detail in your modelling is inspirational.

Looks like its already been done
They're pretty good.

I actually acted mad before using maps though. I tried to model the antistropic detail, and in part it worked, but 5,000,000 polys was a bit too hefty, with over 1000 odd tube shaped objects arrayed inwards...

Hehe, yeah, but I will start using DOF properly at some point, but I haven't been able to get good results. I'm not sure exactly where to set the distance parametres for a good result in the Z-depth.

Its all post effect. I don't know of a renderer (except for maybe physical based) that'll do that automatically. At least, from what I know.
Is it too much?

I'll keep watch on the DOF, but if I don't add any at all, it also has a less realistic effect I've found. A hint of DOF and chromatic aberration goes a long way I find.

Thanks a lot. It really means a lot when I get comments like that. I still find this 3D stuff hard at times, and get very frustrated when a render looks bad, which really lowers my confidence, which is a bit daft...
I don't honestly know where this is going, or how its going to stop ( a simple scene, room scene...no idea), but I'm glad I have supporters that'll be there with me

Updates hopefully later on today (being that its morning now). I'll hopefully have all the textures complete by then, and views from all sides finished.

See you then!

Thanks I do appreciate all the comments I get, I really do.

Update sort of.
I promise to finish the textures off tonight (I corrected font on the main unit, but its a little offset...opps), or at least get close to it.
Shaders are looking exact now in my eyes with how the metal and glossy plastic is concerned. The glass still has a weird...GI thing going on that I'll have to look into. Its not the samples, I've checked that.
Sorry if you are getting bored of all the tinkering :

I'll probably have the unit on most likely, but while making the textures, its on standby

If you hadn't posted the clays and wires earlier I would be screaming fraud. This is the kind of stuff I aspire to create.

You, sir, win the internets.
