Question Quick question

Is it allowed for me to separate the teeth into a new subtool so I can hide & work on them easier? Having them as part of the same model makes it a pain in my butt to sculpt.

ScoobyDoofus -
Well, it's either that or hit the poly-group button. I don't see why making them a subtool wouldn't be allowed though, it's still the same mesh. Besides, you'd be a little crazy to attempt sculpting the mouth without separating the teeth and creating a selection set for the lower lip.

ScoobyDoofus: Yeah, that's perfectly fine.

Allright, here's my entry. About 70 minutes in it so far. I would really REALLY appreciate some comments and critique. I'm hoping to improve my sculpting with this comp.

Nice one man. I think the nostrils are too wide and the nose tip too small. The clavicle needs to be more emphasised, also the line of the chest and the arm pit. double check your anatomy, there is some weird things happening around the chest, deltoid area. Otherwise, nice work. You really impruve with each day and each sculpt. Keep it so.

@freespace :
- the clavicule ussually slopes up a bit and stops atop of the deltoid, between the frontal and central
- the clavicule center does not go down that much in the V shape. At least not at ur soldier's proportions
- the frontal deltoid wraps over the pectoralis
- the sternocleido. - it ataches from behind the ear(halfway) to the center of the claviculae WITH it's main mass. True, it has another muscle that wonders off a bit at the base, but it is NOT split in two. The side muscle is a bit smaller and less proeminent.

The face :
- the nostrils need some attention
- a common mistake - the nose does not pop out from the face. If you want, the skin from the middle of the nose slopes sideways towards the cheeks. You can see the sharp edge surrounding your nose.
- the lips are just stone-cut, give them some volume
- the arcades wonder off too much from the eelids, bring them closer

PS.hope u dont mind the criticism...hope it's constructive and this is what u asked for...

The neck in general looks a bit stiff, even for a buff soldier. Here's what I think you can do. Keep in mind I'm no expert with anatomy .

- Push the bulge in the traps away from the neck and down the side of the shoulder. Something more like this.

- The sternomastoid looks a bit off. I think that's because while you did try to create the "V" going to the pit of the neck, your muscle doesn't really flow that way. Look at this here. You got the right idea, you just need to emphasize the curve a little more so the weight of the muscle feels less like it's being split between two branches.

You definately got the right idea, just need to tweak a few things to make it fit together.

wow, this competition is getting really good! 8 pages in 4 days filled with amazing stuff. i gotta take a break from my current project to crank out at least 1 attempt at this.

i read that it has to be human, but do cyborgs count? the best killing machines are built, not grown.

and if i was to record my session, what would be good capture settings in zbrush that will not take up too much space, be sped up, and be average quality?

omnicypher, i don't see why it would, there have been great "super soldiers" throughout history right? i'm doing mine during the 16th century, i'm approaching it more of the idea that he is super soldier because he keeps surviving, not only because of his skill.
of course i vagely remember yoda saying 'wars not make one great"
