Well first of all. Mirw. Its fairly complex. But this might help you understand:

Q: What is Genx

A: Genx is a swedish development company, our main focus is developing applications and new ways to communicate and interact over the web, design, websites and 2d/3d animations and presentations.

Q: I´ve heard alot about Mirw, what is it ?

A: Mirw stands for Massive Internet Reality World and is the first of a new kind of applications called Vmc which stands for Virtual Media Communications.
Mirw is a onlinebased 3d world in which u can interact with other users.
You can browse and read news from popular websites, listen to different global radio channels, play games with all the other Mirw users, manage your online shoping, play mp3´s and movies.

You can be your own dj and play your fav songs for all your Mirw friends, you can check the weather in any country, build your own highly advanced plugins with our sdk, explore the Mirw world just like in any mmog, or just sit down and use Mirw like irc or any other 2d chat/p2p/buddy application.
Q: Sounds relly cool, but how about cpu and ram usage ?

A: Actually Mirw requires far less hardware than the so popular Dc application, and if you are thinking of comparing it to modern 3d games, well Mirw actually runs on a p2 450 with a gf2mx class grfx card, not that we recommend such a low system, but it runs on it.

Q: so is it like one giant world wide server thats hosting Mirw ?

A: Nah, Mirw will be made up of a irc like system with alot of different servers hosting different Mirw towns, and everyone that has the bandwith is welcome to be a part of the Mirw world and start his own Mirw town.

Q: So a Mirw town is just another name for a server ?

A: yeah, a server/hub is called a Mirw town/city, and users connect to your town.
And all the towns is what will make up the entire Mirw universe.

Q: Sounds alot like irc´s server system.

A: Yes once again, it´s a gr8 system and one we felt like building upon, but of course we have taken it alot further than that.

As a Mirw user u can register your nick/name so no one else will be able to use it on any Mirw server, regardless of you being offline or online.
You can build buddy lists and regardless of Mirw server you will always see your buddys and be able to pm them.

And if you and they have the file transfer plugin you will be able to swap files.
Q: So Mirw users will be able to swap files ?

A: Yeah, they can swap files with each other.

Q: Hmm, why 3:rd party plugins ?

A: Well we provide the foundation and the environment like grfx and content.
But we felt that since moding games is so popular our users would really like to be able to build their own plugins.

Not to mention the fact that since Mirw is so capable it would be impossible for us to forsee every little function our users would like to be able to use.
Q: What will they be able to do ?

A: Well we havent nailed down that area yet.
We will of course be shipping our own sdk, with 100% working plugins for the users to use and learn from.

Here´s a short list of plugins.

Notepad capacity
Calenders with alarm clock functions
Make their own Mirw menus

And no it isnt hard to do your own plugins.

Q: Once you release it, what will happen then ?

A: Genx will continue to develop Mirw, bring out new content, new in house made plugins, and overall more and better features, and of course new Mirw versions, but no, you dont have to worry, each and every new Mirw version will use the same network so your own Mirw copy will never go out.
Q: Give me a description of Mirw.

A: As i briefly mentioned earlier.
Mirw is for you the user to decide how to use.

You can use it like Irc (and u can even connect to irc servers from Mirw), some ppl might feel like ditching Icq and just chating and keeping up with each other, others will enjoy the full 3d world and both chat(text,voice,video),swap files,listen to the radio and play the build in mini games with other Mirw users.

And yet again, other Mirw users will end up doing their online shoping through Mirw, and some ppl might end up checking the weather while chating and talking to people,using Mirw like a alarm clock, reminding them of important happenings, alert them when they get a new mail etc.

Anyway, this is whats happening now you should see what we have planed for Mirw 2.0
Q: One more thing, is it free to use ?

A: Hell yeah, of course it´s free to use.
The only thing that will cost you money, is if you decide to buy something (obviously ) or register your Mirw copy.

But by registering you will actually get some unique features, like the Nick protection and some other cool things.

The registration fee is just 6€, so i would like to urge everyone to register in which u will also help us with the future development of Mirw.

And of course, we have alot of different corporate licenses aswell for the people and companys that would like to do stuff with and add stuff to the Mirw world.

Q: i`ve heard something of a Mirw 2.0 version already being under development.

A: Yeah we have formed the dev team and put down the specs of Mirw 2.0 and we will develop Mirw 2.0 and 1.0 alongside each other from now on. (2003-04-09) , And trust me Mirw 2.0 will be --- spectacular, everything we wanted to do in Mirw 1.0 but coudnt, due to the engine holding us back, and then some that we coudnt even dream of when we started developing Mirw 1.0.



Now after all that reading I bet you ar tired. All the help we can get, the company is not just based on the micW Project. We also do 2d web design etc... but atm we are looking for anyone can help. mostly on the 3d side. I am a concept artist and 3d modeller.
