Revenge of the Octopus

This an original concept that I call "Tako no Fukushuu" which is Japanese for "Revenge of the Octopus". Too many of his family members have been murdered and served in fine sushi bars across the globe and this Demon/Octopus hybrid is not going to take it any more. Land-lovers beware....You most likely wont escape the reach of his tentacle attack, but if you somehow slip by, you will be reeled back in with the help of his double-barrel, arm-mounted, tetanus-laced harpoons!
Created with Maya, Zbrush and rendered with Mental Ray.
Hope you guys like it

i agree superb detail in modeling and texturing, overall a very atmospheric disturbing image which is nice. It could be easily implemented into some kind of underwater scene with photo-shop etc, but these stand alone renders are just perfect as they are.

Thanks for the comments yall.
Yeah, I may try to compose it into an environment for a full illustration (just not enough time at the moment)
Also, I'll get some wires/shaded views posted soon.

Brilliant. Amazing job.

Try to get him in a scene. Show him getting his revenge.

Terrorize a calm seaside town in Maine. They didn't learn their lesson from Jaws.

Awesome model!! I especially like the little details like the twisted hands and arms and his dead eyes.

Thanks for sharing.

I like it, but I don't like the face. It's really weak.

Zikco - Thanks bud.

Pauljwiz - Thanks a lot

wintermute - I know the name definitely calls for for a scene Thanks for the comment.

Saiya-jin - Thanks. Lol..nice I idea. I can see it now.

DJdude - Thanks you

inveni0 - Glad you like it a little. It's helpful to add what could be better on the things you don't like.

Here are some of zbrush screen grabs:
The skull design on the head plate was cut from the final...was a little too much

Again I have to say outstanding, and I checked out your gallery mate as well, fantastic work in there!

Looking forward to seeing this monster in a scene, my desktop waits eagerly!
