Marvel's Dr. Strange
inspired by the comicon challenge on gameartisans, found out about it too late, so I wasn't able to participate in the challenge... but i still wanted to make a marvel character.

day2 more progress...
anyone else get this problem w/ the smart resym in zbruh? I hid the right glove so I could focus on detailing the left glove, unhide both gloves masked the left glove and applied smart resym and details won't copy over. really annoying.. please help if you have any suggestions. Not too sure why that wouldn't work. Try hiding everything in your subtools and try again. Also you might want to double check that they are indeed symetrical. Make sure vetices are wielded. You can even have an extra face in that subtool you didn't notice. I never ran into this problem so I can't shed to much light on this, sorry. Sure is looking good. I noticed on your turle remix and here in your legs that the topolgy is not following the way you want the muscles to deform (or in the turtle remix - the shell detail). Theres great tutorials out there on how redo the topology so that you don't get jagged faces. Perhaps you have learned that and are applying that to this model however if not I suggest you look into it.
CheersNote: If you don't want to go back into your 3d package, mess around, rexport and all that. To see if in fact that they are not symetrical is the problem. Use the SubToolMaster under plugins. Just delete one of the gloves and move down to lowest subdivision. Mirror the subtool with SubToolMaster and choose merge into one subtool. Now you will have an exact duplicate mirrored. Do the same thing you did before and try smartresym. Hopefully that will work for ya ![]()

maybe work on the cape a bit more, it should descend a little more on the arms from the shoulders, almost like Spawn and Superman's capes.

bromox: worked perfect.. thank you very much! didn't even know that plugin existed.. thanks again.
tuss4: yeah, i haven't started sculpting the cape yet.. I might go wild w/ the sculpt kinda like the spawn cape... but for now I want to finish the body first and all the small details. Last edited by pogimonz; 17-08-2008 at 09:51 PM.. |

great, I'm glad it worked for ya
. I decided that my next project would be one to practice what I have learned but also make me study how to texture skin and human anatomy. I'm gonna make one of the Double Dragon Brothers . Hopefulyl after this I can give the sea monster model another go. Not sure which one I am gonna do. I know you have alot of projects on the go at the moment there but if you want to do the project with me and create the other brother your more than welcome to. I'll probably make the thread later with reference images so let me know ![]()

I am not familiar with this character, but I think he does not have gloves. And if, they would be under the blue cloth, and not over it. It looks more like he has a kind of leopard like skin on the arms...

good eye for details tony, the gloves does sit under the blue cloth. I did some more research on dr strange and in some of the pictures I saw, looks like he is wearing leopard gloves, but I'm not sure if I really want to make them leopard, but they will be yellow for sure
.. i'll be applying the changes on the next post |

Nearing the finished sculpt..
Alright I tightened up the sculpt.. I do need some hard critiques though on anything that looks wrong or I missed..
The only thing I haven't touched is the scarf/belt around his waist I'm still playing around w/ the design, but everything should be close to finish. I just need to add the final pass for details skin pores and etc.. I'd say this sculpt is about about 80% finished. constructive criticism are always welcome.. thanks. |

awesome sculpting, pogimonz!!! may be the ear is a little bit too big for the head, it looks like in the first version (and in the refs) the proportion was better, but, man, your work is really well done!!!

man tony I love your attention to detail, the ears were obvious to me, but the change of the overall proportion definitely I did not see, when I beefed up his long sleeve top to conform w/ the gloves, that's what caused the head to look so small.. but you're right the proportions were better on the previous post..
Just made the last udjustments on the sculpt and I started retopologizing for low poly.. Man I'm excited to finish this one. thanx for the help dood. |
