#81 - Still Life
Speed Painting Challenge no. 81
Topic: Still Life Idea: What we are going to do here is go back. Talking old school still life. Like a bowl of fruit, or a desk with some paper on it, you can even do a life drawing if you want, I won’t mind. Can be in black and white, or color. Deadline: 11:59 pm (GMT) Sunday October 12tht (use the time zone thread to make sure your done in time) Prizes: (must be at least 6 entries) Winner gets to choose one of the following options: - 6-month subscription to the 2DCreative magazine - 6-month subscription to the 3DCreative magazine Rules: -Any medium is allowed, as long as it can be put into digital form - scanned, photographed, etc. - Since it's a speed painting, it should be finished in the smallest amount of time possible, but if you paint a whole day, you won't get disqualified . But for example, 4 days is too much - IF YOU PAINT MULTIPLE ENTRIES, YOU NEED TO STATE BEFORE THE DEADLINE WHICH ONE YOU LIKE THE BEST. IF NOT – I’LL DO IT FOR YOU - References can be used - 3D or photograph, BUT you can't paint over them. It has to be your own painting. - Custom brushes can be used, but to some extent - they can't be pre-made parts of the future painting, like a whole tree, brush, cloud, an explosion, lighting... you get the point. They can be - a couple of leaves, a couple of grass blades |

Well i have only just started to learn how to draw so thought i'd give this comp a go.. its not very good and drawing with a tablet is pretty weird... but kinda cool.. anyway... all i've learned so far is drawing lines and the negative space.. so once i've done composition and stuff i might be able to colour it in right.. lol..
took about 30 mins to do... |

Cheers nocturn... nice to have some thing positive come from this day.. (you don't wanna know)..lol.. but anyway... very stressfull...
was half worried that after i'd put something up people were gonna start thowing up portraits of people or city streets or something like that.. but am guessing thats still to come and way out of my league.. but any pointers i can pick up on drawing would be great.. Like the apples by the way.. |

I might give this a poke later. i have no idea what to paint though
those of you just starting out with a tablet - either buy a copy of artrage or download the free version. it costs about 13 quid and the only thing that beats it in terms of sketching pleasure is alias sketchbook pro (200 quid) those of you who're experienced with a tablet and dont already own it - buy artrage or download the free one ![]() |
