Character animation demo "The Imp"
Hi,
I've just completed a character animation demo reel. Basically a short story with an imp. I wanted to create a likeable character - cute, but not so bright. I didn't spend any time at all really on the textures and lighting, although I'd like to in the future. I spent most of my time on rigging and the animation. A small version of the animation and supporting images are available on my web site. Just thought I'd put it out there to see what people think. I am of course seeking work in 3D land! The link directly to the animation is: http://homepage.eircom.net/~matt3d/impSmallDivX.avi my web page is: http://homepage.eircom.net/~matt3d Matt. He started out as a sketch: Some shots from the animation: ![]() |

I like the character, he has a fairly interesting look too him, cool personality like. I think a different texture would make a world of difference. I know it would take a while to make one but it would be worth it IMO as its a few hours work that will show through throughout your whole animation.
And BTW, are you Irish, I noticed you have an eircom account? I haven't been living there for a long while but I'm interested in moving back after high school, any 3d companies there? |

I'm actually Australian, but have been living in Ireland for 6 months. I'm leaving again in May - hoping to find work somewhere! There a small number of companies here - apparently things are slow.

I didn't think there was too much of a 3d industry there. I think there are a few animation places there but they are not too much into 3d. For now I can just hope it will be different by the time I've finished college.
![]() Anyways, another thing, your creature has a very "Shrek" look to him that you might want to tone down (something that once again a different texture could do well). |
