3D- animated Short "What's for homework"

Hey Community,
This is my degree - animated short which i did last spring. And now I have entered it to the aniBoom Animation competion. So it would be helpful if you would also rate it to however good you think it is.

see the vid here:

Synopsis:

See what happends, when you go away but your homework comes alive. My personal task was to create a story with personality, emotions etc without using mimic, arms and legs.
This short was part of my my diploma-thesis "Emotionality in three-dimensional abstraction"(june08) . At this I analyse the possibility to give life to primitive geometric physiques without changing the figures with extremities or facial expression. I use the some of the 12 Animation principles to underline and enhance the expressions. Everthing is done by myself, from concept scetches to final gathering with music and effects in nearly one month with a standard laptop.
Would be great if you vote, fave, send to friends or post it whereever u want... ! just if u like it if u don't tell me why to do a better job next time.

Thx alot

Well it's ok...I see that there was lots of planing and preparations, although the work flow storyboarding and production level made up correctly,
and all the things working just fine with each other...but:
- The render could be better, the integration with the environment could be much better, there is no reflected illuminations or other integration
from the objects and their material to the environment.
- The animation could be better too, the jumping and moving could use 'Final Polishing' (especially) scene with chewing gum (it's the last stage in animation production),
some places animation getting too 'jumpy', annoying for eyes to keep watching, in some areas looks like 'stop motion animation' and not 3D. must be smoother.
- The rigging could be better too, the canting are very rough.
- There is a jump sound very strong with the toilet FX.

Over all i liked the idea, and the end is very cool, flying over the light, volume light effect and smoke working just fine...
unfortunately the 3D is far from being photoreal and the integration isn't good enough to believe in.

The music working good with timing and the mood of the project...

I would say it's a good project for a student but not good enough to win a contest.
but got good potential if you just improve it a bit.

Good luck.

Well em what kasperus said... All the points he said are indeed well noticed. It's good for a student job and there's certainly some potential. Keep it up.

In addition to the comments above, I don't really get the title. "What's for homework?" doesn't make any sense to me.

I found the love scene with the Rubik's Cube rather disturbing. Otherwise, kasper up there said good points.
