Great job everyone! I hope to have half your skill someday!
WildWire I love the Pavarotti, very clean work! Been lurking for a couple years, finally decided to get off my butt and try to take part ![]() I decided to take part in this one because I figure a caricature's a great way to learn sculpting without needing to strictly adhere to realism. With that in mind here's my attempt at Sylar from Heroes. Logged a little over 3 and a half hours on him. I learned a lot about Mudbox in the process, but I have got to get a handle on how to do hair. It's something I usually leave for texture-time, but I see a lot of you doing a damn good job of it, so I decided to give it a go ![]() |

Hey update.
Not sure how to make a custom material in mudbox, i don't think any of the default materials really make my model "POP" and get the most detail out of it. Advice? EDIT: Made a custom material what do you think? Last edited by ASTUS; 11-03-2009 at 01:22 PM.. |

I think the second one is better, the first has a specular highlight a little bit over , i guess.

hi guys,
Wow, great to see so many entries in this comp and all of a very high standard. I have done another couple during my lunch breaks at work lol, the first is george clooney, this took just over 1hour to get to this stage, and the second one is Walter Matthau which took 1hour 20min, Pedro Toledo :- you beat me to it with Walter Matthau but i had planned on doing a version of him anyway so i thought i would give it a go, love your version of him, really well done I have also done a timelapse video for the first time ever just to show my sculpting process for anyone who's interested. im planning on recording all my sculpts from now on ![]() you can find the timelapse for Walter Matthau here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQQGG7izdPA keep up the great work everyone, |

Ok, spent another morning staring at celebs. And I'm having the same problem I always have when I try caricatures, I always keep working at them till they look too real. Here's a quick start on clint, If I come back to this one I think it's gonna take a lot of work to make it look exagerated. If you compare to any photo you can see it's not really a likeness, but jst looking at it, it looks as though i've tried to go for total real. I think pather than going off a photo for the next one i'm just gonna go find a caricature someone else has drawn as reference.
AdrianoHM - Really nice clapton. I don't know if i've really seen many pictures of him young so I wouldn't have recognized him without the prompting. But the caricature and model are really nice. Bobben - Really like the tom hanks. I had found some caricatures of him and that was going to be the next guy i tried, but I think i'll leave that to you now, and try someone else. I think with another hour on sharpening things up and a few minutes painting that could take the comp. |
