You may have an issue with something called "Gimbol". This is similar to an issue I sometmes run into in 3DS Max. If you are able to change your Rotate By options a la a drop down or check boxes or whatever make sure this is not selected and try again. If that doesnt work, try to select Gimbol and then try. Its really hard to tell from still images, although you did a great job providing us multiples. Hopefully this helps. Im not really sure having never really used Maya much.
Cheers~

Hey!
Yes i have the same problem like you Sekhar, basically the manipulators are not selected when you hover the mouse over them, instead it's a little off, I activated highlits for manipulators so I can see when i select one axis or another and the mouse must be way far in the viewport and off the gizmo so one axis to be selected. It only happens for the rotate tool, by the way Sekhar do you have an ATI graphic card???? I think the Ati cards are the problem because I don't remember to be doing like this on Nvidia.
Cheers! |

thanx for the replies.the problem persists.i am using ati hd4850 with catalyst 9.1 drivers.i installed the catalyst 9.2 drivers but it does not work. after activating the rotate tool & then going to the inputs if i select a particular axis & then come back to the viewport & try to manipulate the axis, the tool automatically selects a different axis..mostly the one that is facing me. all other tools are working fine. there's no way i can buy a new nvidia graphic card. there has to be a solution to this.

hey i found the solution. i uninstalled the 9.2 drivers & installed the old 8.12 drivers.the issue is resolved finally.
but either autodesk should provide support for latest drivers or ATI should come up with some fix.updating drivers should end problems, not create them.![]() |

Hi friends ,
I’ve got the solution of Maya Rotation problem, with Ati driver. I m using Window Vista 32bit Home Edition and Graphic Driver Ati Radeon 4650 1gb Card. So to get rid of this problem 1. You have to download Ati catalyst Software suite 8.12. From :- http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...?&lang=English Then double click on it , It will Extract it with default settings and ask u to install, Leave that part . The Extracted file location is C:\ATI\SUPPORT . Leave it. 2. Nxt go to ----- Control Panel----and uninstall ur latest Ati Graphic Driver completely. Then Go to-----My Computer ------Right Click ------Properties-------Device Manager------Select the Display Driver -------- Uninstall it. Restart ur system. 3. U will find out vista automatically installing ur graphic driver, after completition of that again, Go to-----My Computer ------Right Click ------Properties-------Device Manager------Select the Display Driver ------ Update driver software---------Browse my driver software on your computer--------let me pic from a list of device driver on my computer.---------then select the option Have Disk -------- Browse------- Select Path:- C:\ATI\SUPPORT\8-12_vista32_dd_72275\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_IN F\ CL_72275------CL_72275 is the file select it----- and u will have ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4650 Driver Select it ------Continue it anyway ------ and install it . After installation Restart ur system. Then Sit Back and enjoy Working on Maya 2009. I’ve spend my Whole night to sort this problem. At last their is happy ending. “Cheers”![]() Bye:- ![]() Shail.phena@gmail.com |
