Thanks guys....trying to make it look as cool as possible, but after looking at a few of the entries at Polycount.....I really need to step it up or I'mma get embarrassed. Here is the completed blockout of the legs. Still trying to decide how they should attach to the body....but you get the idea. Need to add a lot of detail.

Nice start on the modeling for sure. Cool concept as well. Looking forward to see more of this.

Need a little advice. Attaching two designs for armor sitting atop the joints. Should I go angular to contrast with the curvy lines of the leg or rounded to compliment them? Also anyone have any cool name ideas......I was thinking reapers or sentinals but so generic.......Thanks.

Gonna turn in for the night. I actually got a good 9 hours to work today which I haven't had in forever. Unfortunately, I've got OT in the real world tomorrow so I won't get much more this weekend. Let me know what you think. Just a bit of armoring the outside of the legs and adding a few vents/hoses and they're done. **Wipes brow**

@chris_solo: Thanks. I hope it still reads well when I finish the top of the leg and add the armor. We'll see.....
@DaddyDoom: Thanks, glad you like it. @JuST:Thanks. I'm going to try and finish up the top of the leg tonight if I'm not too tired after work. Killzone 2 has been calling my name too, hahaha.....but gotta get this done. |

wow great design.
for some reason every spider robot reminds me of that one spider tank from Ghost in the Shell. but htis one has a really diffrent feel from that i really like a lot. the model is comming along nicely as well. i gotta keep on eye on this thread to see how it comes along.

I've been busy with work so I put this down for several nights. But I had a little time last night so I blocked in the forms. I'll start work on the head tonight and hopefully by the end of my long weekend I can bang out most of the body and get ready to build the low-res......hopefully.

Coming along nicely.
I suggest using the various industrial tones, bolts, panel lines, indented ducts, a little more unified. Now they are spread out all over not used in a cohesive manner. This will help tie the whole piece together rather thanb lookinf like a collection of parts manufactured from different places at different times. |

@mel_danes: I see what you're saying but what elements are looking off specifically? Are some looking too old school industrial (like the knees) versus the kneepads that are more rounded? The body will be kind of round but perhaps I should go more angular with the leg armor?

I'm going to make another pass at the legs next week, but for now, I'm working on the head and body. I tend to get bogged down in details and never finish stuff. This is the first pass. I need to refine the lines in the side of the head so it looks like creases in plating, but I like where the rest of it is going. Peace.
