Also, added the fade to a darker color from the lighting patches on his body, My first inclination was to make the writing blue, but it needed to look like a magic that was opposite to his ice/cold magic, since the shackles were used to bind him. The yellow/orange was kinda bland, so I moved them to more of orange, hopefully that works a little better? SR_6274 - Thanks. I was kinda liking my lighting to be honest. What would you suggest for improving it? [I am trying to hide the rushed textures and cover up the mess that is my normal map.] I do keep sliding the key light on the right a little more to the front all the time tho.Steamtrooper - Thanks. Haha, I was hoping he'd look like a bit of a force to be reckoned with. McKronic - Thanks, I kinda thought the pedestal would solve a lot for me, gives a scale ref, gives a sense of weight, its thematic and brings him into our world. Can't take complete credit for the idea tho, says right in the rules "...it's a block, pillar, coffin, box, crate, stone slab, etc" I just elaborated a little from there. Thanks for the support guys, I'd have quite on this two weeks ago otherwise. ![]() Bit of an update, sorted some of the colors, addressed the the over brightness of the stomach/chest, toned that back. Kinda buggered up the "fading to a darker color" on the horns, somehow I got purple in there, not sure how that happened. Gave the chain/anchor some tlc finally. And proper teeth, no more bright blue chompers. Normal maps still going six ways to sunday, gonna have to do something drastic with that I guess. ![]()

It's looking a lot better. What I meant was there are some areas that are completely black, with no light at all. Maybe just some small intensity omni's in those areas to help the overall lighting. Nothing too drastic, because I do like the dark, I'm gonna beat your face in set up you have now, but just a little to highlight those pure black areas.

Looking really cool Warlock! Very clever: the pedestal, the creature, the weapon, they go perfectly well with each other and tells us a story.
For the lighting, I'd place some warmer secondary dim lights coming from the bottom to break the black aeres and give some clues about what is going on on the shadows Keep up adding some variations on the colours. You've got some nice main colours but you could have areas where the skin has a bit more saturation or a slight shift on the hue, etc.. Awesome work dude! |
