wheeled shuffel

hi folks.. I am designing the animation of a wheels truck (shuffel ) in 3ds max. I am trying to connect the rotation of the tyres with the position of the tuck so when I want to move the tuck the tyres will rotate due to the conneciton. I used parameter wiring to connect the rotation of the tyres to the position of the truck, the problem is when the tuck changes it's direction the speed of the tyre altered untel it completly stops when the truck turns 90 degrees from its original position. I think that when it turns 90 degrees yaxis become x axis and vise versa. I tried to connect the tyre rotation about an axis with the position of the truck in tow axis.. i.e. x and y axis.. but it didn't work.
The question is.. how can keep the rotation of the tyre constant no matter what direction the truck would have.?
