Game Weapon - Bushmaster ARC

Hey guys!

Have been working on this for about 24 hours! its a model of a gun for a game the weapon is Bushmaster ARC Originally Masada by Magpul.

Thought i would take a break from modeling and give you guys a render.

Have also been researching normal map transfers, seems a little bit different and painstaking for hard surface objects. not 100% that good at low polygon modeling but have just been cutting back on the high res.

I have one dilemma thought, the rails on the top side and bottom of the gun, should i have them modeled in the low poly version or what is my other option?

Hope you guys can comment crit and help.

Regards Ashton

color + normal = looking great, good job =]
Also try baking out a occlusion map, would probably make it even better ;]
As for the rails, I think you did good on them. Though if you want to save more polys, then just remove the individual rails, and go for one long piece with normals =]

What game is it for? what is the poly limit? what are you at?

Hey Quick update, due to it being a hard-surface object, the UV map Shells are Separated where a hard edge is formed, so instead of painting in photo-shop, i have switched to mudbox, same theory as painting in Photoshop thought, used a base layer, with then black to simulate paint, then used a erazor brush to remove the black paint with different brush types in exposed edges. back into photoshop to apply the AO as well as the original parts. a lot more fluid this way with no texture seems.

To answer you question.

1. No clue what game it is for.
2. 5000tris
3. 4890tris

Model is based upon the specs of the game Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter 2. Reason for this, is this is a unique gun you don't see everyday so the only game suitable would be GRAW 2 due to it being heavily realistic. there poly counts are about 8 - 11 1st person 6 - 8 3rd Person.

Felt it was very blotchy and the specular was a bit full on.

Here is the final Version with a Map from High to low.

Enjoy.
