And this is a very fresh book cover for a pocket sci-fi novel called "The Dreams of Al Rahim" by mr. Chandra Amaravadi. The ship is abput 80% painted with the mouse since my tablet pen decided to burn out (right after a few days ago my monitor burned out). Luckly I found some kind person to borrow me a wacom bamboo to finish the job while I'm waiting for the replacement on my pen.

Wow Avatar, the ship is uber cool. What i don't understand is why for this kind of pieces of work you aren't starting with some basic 3d, for perspective issues and also to make it easier with the design ( am talking here about the distant base also).
In my opinnion there are some perspective issues, and the waves are way to big, looking at the landing platforms for scale orientation. ![]()

Lol M_B, although I thank you for your replay, it doesn't make a lot of sens since the perspective you draw is no perspective at all. Also, the are multiple perspectives in this image, not just a single one. And you must take in account the horizont curvature, its perspective and focus point, the perspective of the city and of the ship. And also you totally got wrong the angle and the architecture of the towers.
Just to give you an ideea, a few of the perspectives involved here:

You are right about the waves 'tho. There is a lot of detail loss whenever I save a jpeg for the web posting, not to mention sharpness. So do consider in the final image there is a lot more to see that in this one.

What i wanted to show was that the top tower of the naval base is not following any perspective (not even from your persp drawing), it's tilted inwards too much, and if it were to follow the curve of the earth it would be tillted outwards
Btw the 3 lines from the ship weren t ment to be a perspective point ![]() Edit: Here is what i am saying: ![]()

I must confess I don't understand what you want to say about the tower. I didn't said the tower follows the curvature or the earth, I said the horizont does. And you assume that the floating city is facing the ship, which isn't a rule in this case (or any if you ask me). Also, the two levels of the city are disk shaped and if you'll look closely you will be able to see their underside. The curvature of the upper disk also is designed to blend into the towers because this city is also a ship (kindda like Atlantis in Stargate Atlantis). Anyways, the shape of the city is built to look elegant too. It doesn't face the ship yet its perspective blends into the general perspective.

Oh, well juts leave it than and maybe we will talk on YM. I didn't claimed that the city is facing the ship because the city has no real face beeing round. I just wanted to show that the tower should not be in that position viewed from that angle .
