I surely do
All these are pencil shaded first so I think it would be a pitty that all that work remains covered by color. If I'm going for digital paint, I'm doing it all the way but if I have a penciled character, I'm leaving some of the pencil work for the viewer to see. Much like a sculptor wants to leave some traces of his chisel on the sculpture.

No, really pitchus, I'm interested in your opinion. I've been told on ocasions that my character look stiff but nobody really could pinpont the issue. Maybe you can elaborate more on this and give me an ideea on how to avoid this impression.

whoa thanks, well... in my opinion, you are sticking too much to the anatomy and correctness of the structure for your characters, maybe if you did the sketches more fluid you know... bigger strokes while not minding the whole shape as that it has to be formed from your sketch... if you do it with a pencil, you could grab it by its end and concentrate on loosening the awareness of what it should be like and just throw strokes on the paper/canvas... i'm just guessing what might be improved so don't get me wrong if i didn't hit the target, but this is what helped me to get better at physiques
or maybe you could just put aside all those little details, patterns and soft shadows and do it a bit rougher...

Hi,
Avatar, you said "I guess this thread got too long, not many people come by. " Nothing like it mate. I've been around almost since the start of that thread and it's usually the only one I visit when looking at 2d section. It's epic and I think you should carry on with it mate. Re recent work you posted, it's quite an interesting thing to see work of an artist when he both uses models as base and when he isn't. The last batch you've shown us is ...how to put it...less refined compared to the previous lot. It's nothing bad of course...just a good subject for observation and comparison. As for any comments I might have (and I don't feel I really should...taking in account how vastly superior your skill is compared to mine) I can only say that images like the last dwarf would definately benefit in composition if you added a more solid shadow under feet. At the moment they don't feel "connected" to the whole image and it's just a distraction to eye when you look at it "as a whole" if you know what I mean. As for "stiffness" I'm affraid I can't help much. I can cheer you up though... Girls like it stiff ![]() Keep up the good work mate...even if we're silent, we're watching closely. You inspire a lot of us. Regards, Marcin

pitchus- Thanks for the sincere words. I do get what you are saying and I'll try it on the future. As for the "do it a bit rougher..." part, well, thats what my last girlfriend told me too :P
Vanamet- wow, I almost forgot this weird feeling. I guess my artistic vanity needed that sweet tingling feeling The latest characters are different from the others before them because I have levels of commissions. Not everybody can afford a full digital painting (like Urien, the winged guy or Mora, the girl with the dragon). Those are book cover level character with quite a stiff price. These other ones are nice, more stilized and, most of all, affordable. You are right about the shadows, I do tend to leave the shadow more transparent which is not always good. Making it too solid wouldn't be good neither. So I'll just have to play around to find a good measure shadow. Thanks for all the advices guys, I really apreciate your input.

according to me that sword maker is your best work in colour...the fizz in the beer the girl holding looks a bit odd to me, i wouldnt have noticed...but you have put so much effort in detailing the rest...the wood panel behind her is divine...man, love your work.
keep going, cheers.

I like the colors in the sky and the sword
The plate is strange to me, but at all it's nice work as always.

kamal - glad to see you around, its been a while
. I'm glad you like the sword. And the wood panel is really a mixture between some painting, some texture and a few overlay layers. I don't know about the fizz in the beer, if you manage to pinpoint the weirdness in it, let me know. Kitana - I kindda got better with enviroments lately. Sunsets and sunrises are my strongest points so far. I'm working on overcast and stormy Why do you think the plate is strange?pitchus - he told me he got a crush on you too ![]() Happy Holydays everyone! May them bring you peace of mind, serenity of soul and brightness in your homes. And may the New Year Bless you all with inspiration and will power and health!

Happy Holidays Avatar!
Nice work, really like the syle on the face in the last one, though it doesnt seem like the sword comes out from the middle of the round protection thing. (gah i need to learn sword anatomy now...) and maybe there is problems with the angle of the blade also. I would play around with rotating the protection thing, leave the blade where it is because it looks cool. (i might be wrong though) Love comming here looking at ur work from time to time :P Take care!
