2D animation: how to do?
Hi!
After trying a few techniques, I can hardly find an efficient way to do 2D animation. By 2D animation I think of things like cartoons ( "The Simpsons" for example ) It's not much about how to put images together, nor about frame rate. It's more about drawing each frame, making the current frame fit with the previous one, and having all frames in the computer. So I tried: 1. drawing (on the PC) each frame one by one. Precise but way 2 long. 2. drawing on paper and then scan into computer. can be precisely drawn by hand, but the scanning process a bit complex as the picture must be well aligned, and the scanner give good to bad result. Does any one here ever done some 2D animation using a computer? How you did? Please tell me!! Thanks to all of you!! raph

first check out this link http://www.cartoonsupplies.com/files/pegbars.htm
A peg bar is a very important tool in 2d animation. You can get the super cheap kind and use a regular 3 hole paper punch to punch your paper. drawing by hand is the way to go. Then you can just tape the peg bar down on your scanner and scan the drawings in. Another method would be to set up a video camera that has a frame by frame option and shoot the animation (record to video tape). |
