Mr peculiar - Gates of hell

Righto ........got a bit fired up since its been so long since i participated in one of these challenges and its really time to get back into matte painting as i really enjoy it.

I threw down some quick 30 min ideas to warm up a bit

1st ..... getting some hellish vibes down

2nd .... trying to come up with a theme .....possibly a lava river looking from inside hell as people float to their demise.

3rd ....Kinda trying for the lord of the rings moment as the float through those huge statues in the boat........you know the one

except thinking maybe render out some huge demons......havent really depicted it well ....but thats the idea

4th ........the gate to hell being the blue portal where peoples spirits enter and go to one of the "6" roads to their various hellish lives .....was also going with a demony vibe with the horn like landscape .......

Hey man... didn't see this earlier... for me a combination will be cool... take your version 1's angle and combine it with version 4...that would be awesome! Good luck!

those quick sketches are coming out really great...and yep suirebit and eyecon is right about version 4. The problem in this topic is coming up with something original and No. 4 seems more original than the others. great work dude and i'm really eager to see more updates from you.

I say hit the 4th!
According to catholic mythology depicted on Dante's "Divine Comedy", Hell has 7 stages and not 6, but that's just me being picky

But ith 7 roads or directions ........i guess that it coincides with the 7 deadly sins Daddy

Way to confuse the guy - everyone has different favourites, hehe.

I like the 4th for originality, and I like the composition of #2. Go with what feels right for you and what inspires you most

That last one screams "this is where you met diablo in Diablo II"

They are all very nice, try implementing the "gate" somewhere.
