I wanted to create something different with this topic. Main reason why i've changed first concept was because i wanted to present hell as something that exist in universe for billions of years.
My idea was to show hell as black hole, but this one is on earth.
So i just invert original concept(by excedent) and came up with this(i also like color of flames-purple/bluish)

(i am also thinking to change view angle)

Any critics?

M

Nice one... I love how you did this. I too am working on doing an Ice gate of hell.. opted for my second concept but doing it in a much more traditional fashion. Haha...

Have you ever seen any of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings? This painting has a similar organic feel to some of her works - great job

I've get some comments on other forums that this work is ok as concept art, but if this was matte painting i'll need to work to achieve more realistic look. What do you think guys?

I would have to agree with those comments Mateja ........great idea but i always consider matte painting to be film standard ........or something similar.

But i am not running the comp so my opinion doesnt really count.

Love the idea however ...........

Isn't there such a thing as concept matte? Not sure ... it is very concepty for a matte painting, say, for a film, so I do understand what they are saying. Could you incorporate some photographic elements to make it more believable in a real world sense?

I also think the gate looks, at the moment, like it's sitting infront of the ice cave, rather than a part of it. Does anyone else get that same feeling? I think it's the small lines that flow from the opening that seem to overlay onto the ice cave, rather than forming part of them ... just thought I'd mention it anyway

Best of luck, still a cool concept
