the basemesh is looking good. design wise.. probably give him some kind of shoulder armours (called spaulder i think) or maybe give him that for just one shoulder. to kinda break the symmetry a little bit. just an opinion i could think of

im actually trying to learn zbrush as well. any advice on good learning materials for zbrush?

here is an update.

drGrim - thanks for commenting. knowing what to do with the shoulders has been a big question mark for me. right now it looks like the model can't move its arms to the side. i came up w/ something. ill have it in the next post! For zbrush 1 place u could look is at digital tutors website. they have some sample vids for working w/ maya and zbrush.

here's an update. thinking about giving some more bulk around the legs. put in some grenades on the shoulders to try and break silouette up some. kind of thinking as i go..

Oniram - not sure just yet.

Oniram - i addressed the arms a bit too bulk them up. still have more ideas for the area so its not done.

did some silouette pics. just trying to figure what area's need what. my eye is saying its too box like around the top. maybe could use a covering on the back just behind the butt too.

The only issue I have is the size of the arms compared to the size of the suit...If the suit is gonna to be doing all the lifting then have some cool cords or something connecting the pieces of the suit together.....

lostzac - thanx for the comments. i bulked up the arms along with downsizing the lower arm area a bit. hope it shows better now. also put in some shoulder guards to break the silouette a bit.

going to do some more modelling this weekend and get ready to move to zbrush next week. any comments are appreciated.

Before going into Zbrush I would make sure to UV map everything, pay special attention to mirrored geo. Once mapped make a few more loops in places where your mesh is light, the forearms for instance. Once you have uniform mesh density go into Zbrush from there, subdivides over low density meshs work badly.
Good idea, I look forward to where you go from here.

as far as color goes, red seems as though it will go best.
