Daily Modeling n'stuff - Current Project (BLACKHAWK)

Heya everyone.
I'm developing a habit of modeling by spending 30 minutes (this is a lot for me because i have a short attention span and am progressively improving it) a day on whatever model i'm working on at the time. I'm 10 days into the project and just finished a boat model. now starting a gun (M60) model for a humvee i modeled awhile back.

I'm new here. Whatever you think of me and my models, feel free to comment. Thanks.

Very nice! Two questions. One, what did you use to render these? Second, is the stock bump mapped, or modeled?

Hey thanks! it's rendered with mental ray in max8 and the stock is modeled, the only bump mapping is on the grip for the handle.

This one is done! yay again!

Very nice black hawk! Are you using box modeling, or patch modeling for the black hawk? Lots of progress just for 45 minutes!

Haha, I can't believe you found it, you have a good eye! And thanks for the encouragement! I use box modeling almost exclusively, because it's the fastest for me. Of all the modeling advice i've heard these helped the most:
1. Work in "broad strokes", get as much form from the verts and poly you can before adding anymore resolution.
2. Keep the topology clean with consistent levels of detail and 4 sided polys for subdivision smoothing.

Spidermax - Thanks, these projects (the humvee and blackhawk) are just vehicles i like and looked fun/challenging to model, and if i like the finished model i sell it online.

Anyhow, this is the Blackhawk 4 hours into it. Pretty slow but it's important that the shape is accurate because i want to add a lot of detail on top of it.

As far as I am concerned, 4 hours for that much is amazing! I take things VERY slow to ensure that what I am making turns out EXACTLY the way I want it. Also, thanks for the advice!
