Low poly jaws?Well not yet...

In the past week I was kind of obsessed with the sharks, so I've decided to make one for a short animation.This is the first base mesh, low poly and without jaws

looks very good so far ;

as for crits; the low poly looks pretty much spot on, athough it would be great to see a wireframe. the diffuse could possibly use a spot more contrast to it, and the specular should really bring this to life the caustic effects on the body look amazing in a still, although they may look a little odd if they remain static in an animation. unless you have some funky idea on animating them..

if you are looking for a way, then you could copy the mapping onto channel 2, then create a colour overlay for the caustics and using UV Xform, scroll them during the animation

wire

Here it is, the wire frame. Thanks for the advice, I'll try to fix it as soon as possible. Today I've completed the rigging process but unfortunately with the teeth it is no longer low poly. The body has 2200 polygons so I it is a little heavier low poly than usual. Maybe I should optimize the mesh a bit more.
Oh, caustics are not part of the texture, they are light projection map and they are can (and they will) be animated later on. And yes the inner part of the shark needs to be refined...

The colours are a bit bland at the moment for a shark. The top parts of sharks tend to be a much darker grey with the lower parts being closer to white. You also need to get a nice matte finish to the white rather than the gloss that you have right now.

Here is another test. My primary concern was the shading,since I didn't want it to look like chrome or aluminum fish. Today I will try to fix the texture and add more detail.
just keep swimming....

The colors are bit washed out because of the environment and lack of light, but yes, the textures need to be fixed. I'll do them today since my primary concern was the shading so I was more focused on that at this stage. Thanks for the critics and advices, much appreciated .

I prefer this last one, maybe a little ease off on the spec though.

Also, I think the scene it is in could use a bit of work? Add some specs to the water to give it some depth?

I had some rigging problems with the shark but that is solved now and I am working on the complete scene (adding kelp underwater forest and the prey for the shark). It will be finished very very soon.
