Soft Raytrace shadows (3dsMax and Mental Ray)

Hello is there a way in 3ds Max 2010, to have raytrace shadows soften as they get further away from the model?

All I get so far are just shadows that stay sharp all they way until they end

Thanks in advance

Look for MR Area lights, go down to Area parameters and increase size untill you get satisfied result.
You can also use any standard light with shadow set to Area (not raytrace)
