SR_6274 - Insect
I'm gonna see if I have time to finish this. Here is the initial base mesh. Gonna bring it into z-brush now to sculpt out some detail so I can make an AO map from it to put onto the diffuse.

Nice start but it looks a little too similar to the WoW insectoids right now:

Your right Perversonality, so I changed the design up a bit. It's now a mix between the insectoid and a wasp like thing. The big piece on the end is now a giant stinger. I know insects are supposed to have at least 6 legs, but I just don't think six little legs would fit in here.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think of the new design.

To be honest it's not really doing much for me at the moment. Perhaps try drawing some flow lines on a bit of paper first to get the overall position of the body parts right and then work the design around the lines

Your right. It's really not doing anything for me either lol. Guess it's back to the drawing board to see what I can come up with.

I had a similar problem in that I modelled some parts that were too detailed and too specific. I then had a look at some more refs and eventually did some basic extrude-along-spline modelling on some faces of a sphere, which was how mine was born. The shape of the splines was what sparked my imagination though, hence suggesting drawing some flow lines first

Ok, just did a quick drawing for my bug. It's more of a wasp design, mixed with dragon parts (spikes, and armor plate for the body). I know my drawing skills suck, but I think I'll go with something like this. Will have to flesh it out more once I start modeling it, but I think the overall shape is better with this design.

ur new drawing has a lot of potential as far as silhoutte value goes. Something that your current model is lacking in every area.
Concept is pretty cool by the way! |
