problems with target weld

i am working in a character in 3ds max 09, but when i try to join the head to the body using target weld, in some vertex i canīt do it, and and if i try to create a polygon using those vertex, it appears "invalid new face" why is that happening? and what can i do to join the head to the body?

Then its is really weird, instead of target weld did you try, the normal weld button??? Aswell try a STL check modifier see if it pick up error in that area, otherwise try posting some screenshot, maybe we ll pick up something otherwise its pretty weird.

Ow just anopther idea, maybe you hidden some polygons earlier on, try unhiding them, that could be it.

Good luck

usually this problem occurs when there is a "trapped polygon". maybe in your case your polygon is so small, you can't even see it! it happened to me once, so maybe you have the same problem too. another suggestion is to drag-and-drop around a vertex then see if there are multiple overlapped vertices that misht trap that polygon.
