Projector map, lighting with AVIs?!

Is it possible? I've tried adding an AVI file as a projector map but it doesnt accept it. I'm trying to create an old style film projection on a screen and in theory that should be the easiest way really. Doesn't have to be AVI, just a video

Cool idea - hope someone has a way to do this.

Or, could it be done in AE or something?

It does accept an avi file.
Just chose bitmap for the projector map then you can select your avi.

You do need a good graphics card for using avis as bitmaps. If you have a sucky graphics card, it doesn't take it.
