Shaolin butterfly kick !!
I have been a 3ds max user for quite some time and this is my first attempt at animation in maya.

Yeah he looks kinda stiff, really the motion is he takes a step and swings his back leg through following with his front leg almost instantly. The weight shift from the back leg throwing forward generates the momentum to follow with the second leg. If you want good photo reference look up Sifu Kisu on youtube. He did all the martial arts choreography for things like Avatar among others and he really moves the right way. Not the most showy way but the right way to invoke power out of these moves.
