Maya Deformers
Hi
Is there a way to take an existing deformer(with all its keyframes) and assign it to a new object? For example, if i use a bend deformer to bend a block over 20 frames and then i want to make that deformer bend another block instead without creating a new deformer and re-keying it. Thank you in advance for your help! |

Sorry, i didnt make it clear...the new block is different from the previous one so i dont want to duplicate the block. lets put it this way, the bend deformer is first acting on a block and i want it to do the same to a polygon plane let say..i need to know how to attach an existing deformer to a completely new object(already created)

oh i just figured it out.
Under 'edit deformer' use the 'edit membership tool', select the deformer then it will highlight the vets of the current member object. Right click on new object and go into vert component mode. shift+LMB to select the new objects verts and ctrl+LMB the old object verts to deselect them.Move the deformer into place and thats it. |
