Exclamation Maya crash problem. help needed...

so I was all happy getting my new Dell Precision 7500, xp64, 16 GB ram,
Nvidia Quadro FX3800 machine, with Maya 2009 64bit.
And I continued my work on a big file (10 mb) which I previously created on my old pc (Maya 2009, 32bit), but unfortuanly it keeps crashing alot (when modifying Lattice point and/or moving shaded object) even when most object are hidden.
I tried everything I could think of, various drivers for the graphic card, eleting history, optimizing file, but nothing seems to work.
I even took the latest file back to the old machine, perormed the same test (lattice/rot. shaded obj.) but it didnt crash there, as it didnt before.
..preety frustrated, and so I look forward to hearing from you of any input including what is the actaul driver/s I need for the card/Maya.

I'm going to take a stab at this since regardless at what the happy people say at the comp store...64 bit is not totally backwards compatible. That said, instead of working the whole file, export the .obj onto a flash drive and just use that to see if the same thing happens.

If you have the setup files for maya 32bit, install that too. I've noticed that you really need to have both installed for it to work properly (don't ask why, i don't know... i'm just speaking from experience). Also check if your card is on the qualified hardware list? I just work with my gtx260 (maya was expensive enough thanks, i can't go wasting money on an expensive workstation card that won't give me a huge increase in performance) and it works fine for maya 2010 x64. for the drivers, make sure you have the latest official Nvidia release for your card, it's the only way to go.
