Games Industry

Hey guys, I live in England and I am due to goto college and the one thing I wanna do for a career is work doing 3d graphics for either games or movies. I was just wondering if you guys knew what sort of course would give me a good start for my journey.

ANYTHING would be a great help to me.

i am gonna do a course(degree) called digital 3d design, but their are other courses such as digital multemedia, which is the use of cad in multemedia, like games and T.V or any course with CAD in the title. choose wisely though. also, it best if CAD is already a hobby and that you enjoy it.

hope this helps.

Hey!!
i'm at DeMontfort Uni in leicester which is quite good.
there is a course called multimedia design.
we do games design and 3d animation using mostly maya.
we also get to do stuff like web/interactive cd design using director, and sound design using cubase etc.
it's quite cool so you may want to look into it.
we also get regular visits from people from CodeMasters who come and look at our work.

i also think there is a uni in teeside ( or somewhere up north) that do a course specially in games design.

cheers!!

Hey guys, thanks for the good advice, but I am at least 2 years away from Uni at the moment, what college course would allow me to move onto those? or give me a good foundation to enroll on those sorts of courses when I finally get to Uni?

hey!!
i did a national Diploma in 3d Design.
which apparently is really good if you want to do animation or games stuff.
Codemasters drill it into us all the time that they would sooner employ someone who can draw well, instead of someone who only knows where all the buttons are in max5.
My advice would be to take a course where they will teach you to draw or where there is alot of drawing involved, as this is the most important skill you will need.
so get drawing and practice 3d in your own time. Thats what i did.
cheers!!
