SMC M#01 - czacen - Legendary Weapon - Martian Longsword
Hi all. Decided to do a much much simpler design this time. Its based on the legendary Martian Longsword of the old comic book character 'John Carter of Mars'. The original artwork was by legend artist Frank Frazetta back in the days when Sci-Fi still had swashbuckling heroes. My dad is a big Frazetta fan and its his birthday in a couple of days so I thought i'd try it out for fun.
Here are some images of the design: |

Hi everyone. Heres the final beauty pass and clay render. I wanted it to look like a canvas painting so i gave it a painted application in PS. Model time was 73 mins, I'm sorry that the font looks like it says 13 mins.

Thanks Rsantiago. I was in a hurry to leave for work this morning and didn't have time to put up the wrieframe image. I'll update the thread with it once I get home from work today.

I find the sculpt superb !!!!...but I'm little disappointed of the beauty shot render because you have try to make an effect of painting / draw while I would rather have seen one made realistic or based on shaders worked.... it's my feeling

@ Buzzy: Thank you Buzzy, I'm glad you liked it. I sometimes wish we could see more of Frazetta's work in 3D.
@ Chris: Thank you for your honest opinion Chris. I will try do a more 3D looking render without the painting feel after I finish the Totem of Might. |
