I like the sketch. Does the black area around the blade signify part of the design of the blade or was it just in the background? If its meant to be part of the blade it looks very original.

Hello all, here's an update. I pretty much broke the sword down into 4 pieces according to my sketch to manage time. (Blade, Base, Handle, and Skull) Time spent is 95min, and will be putting wire frames later on.
JAPO: thanks, I thought about doing that but I wanted to create my own design and just get inspirations from it. danielmn: thanks! well here it is in 3d. czacen: when I was sketching the sword, I knew I wanted to incorporate some kind of magical effect on the blade. Something like a glowing blade. I didn't really illustrate it clearly on my sketch because my drawing/painting skills are limited, but for sure will try to do it in 3D |

zipel: Thanks! here's the wireframe.
avishek: Gonna try to do a bit of texturing, also gonna try to add bump map on the skull, blade, and handle since I don't have anymore time. chris_solo: Thanks, glad you like it. Will finish up with shading and lighting, and hopefully achieve what I'm going for. -Clay and Wire renders. |

So here are my final images. I used bump texture to create the leather weaving on the handle, Skull and sword inscription. Not really an expert on shading and renderimg, but I managed to render the sword close to how I wanted it to look.
