McFly: Not on purpose, I just wrote what came to mind. Are they all really American movies?

So, my showreel is rendering for two weeks now, so I have plenty of time to catch up with culture. I was going for older movies, legendary ones
Fight club: I was screaming at the monitor and felt urge to punch someone while watching and few minutes after credits. Then logic got back and I calmed down. But it certainly gived a lot of things to think about. I was little dissapointed with the twist, it somehow didn't fit with the movie, but ok, I take it. Other than that, flawless movie Platoon: I heard a lot about that, like best Vietnam war movie, but somehow, it didn't hit me. I was caught in the moments, but it didn't worked as whole. Still, very enjoyable movie with great ending (fast, no long speeches). Also I was happy to see Dr. Cox from Scrubs starring in there :-) Apocalypse: Probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's far beyond the war movie category. All the psycho and madness, it was very subtle and innocent at first, I smiled all the half part. But then breaking point and I was down for the rest of the movie with my hands pulling hairs. I saw the redux version (3:20) and had trouble to sleep. I also read some background and it gave me even more chill (like when Sheen is drunk and broke the mirror with his fist, the scene and wound was real. Same with water bull being real). Every scene was perfect and the whole was so amazing that I won't be watching this thing in next ten years or more, so I don't spoil it for me Machete: Laughed all the way thru. A lot of firing, killing, hot naked babes, classical Rodriguez movie. I liked the Desperado more, thou, more accesable and convincing characters The Doors (with Val Kilmer): Excellent movie. It shows mind of a genius to the last bit. Hard to understand them, hard to love them Repo the Genetic Opera: Very interestick rock musical. I liked the plot, liked the actors (even Paris Hilton was surprisingly good), but somehow, it didn't caught me. Hard to watch, maybe too overcrowded with things and features. The music was perfect on the other hand Now I am off to watch Last Airbender EDIT: Just watched Last Airbender. What a wasted potential. At least pedobard is happy

Zlat, you're watching most of those movies with a time lag of more than 20 years. Your arguments are invalid.

i watched piranha 3d yesterday, and it was my first 3d movie. Well - forget the plot, it was rubbish, but there was blood and boobs, so its all cool. You can laugh all the time, so i call this a good comedy flick.
Now for the 3d - i think it mainly sucked because of the glasses. They were a little bit small, so i had the outer frame in my field of view and it was sometimes distracting. Especially when there was much light, cause the custics got reflected into my eye. And when there was a foreground, like fences , the background was blurry as hell. It wasn't dof - it looked more like a predator cloaking device. So all in all - that 3d wasn't that jawdropping. I will give another 3d movie a try, to see if these problems are generic.

Wait, whut?

... Guardians of Ga'Hoolie.
Visually, it blew me away! I highly recommend seeing it in 3D, in a theatre, and bringing toilet paper.

just saw iron man 2. the best example that "comic movies" that have some sorts of "robots" in them can actually work and be awesome². it was even better than part one, or to be precisely-it builds up on part, wouldn´t work without it. great flick, great story, great dialoges. and i like when jon favreau is in his own movies. o, and its the first time in my life that i found gwynth paltrow somewhat attractive. guess she needs to getolder to look better^^
if only transformers would be 1/3 that cool - it would rule.

I just saw "Kiraware Matsuko no isshô" at a Japanese film festival in Montréal yesterday! It was a bit "verbose," but the imagery was awesome. A weird "melancholic drama / dark comedy." Very unique use of colours. I recommend checking it out, especially if you're interested in Japanese moveis or "oddball" movies.

Saw Due Date last week aswell as Burke & Hare.
Due Date - Not a bad film at all, I hadn't seen The Hangover either but this is funny and fairly predictable and I suppose you could describe it as Plains, Trains & Automobiles in plot ideas, only instead of Steve Martin needing to get home to Thanks Giving, Robert Downey Jnr needs to get home for the birth of his child. There's some really laugh out loud moments......especially when they are boarding the airplane and Zack's hairy belly is fully in Robert's face. Worth a watch ![]() Burke & Hare - I'd heard very mixed reviews for this one, overall I actually really enjoyed it, if you can ignore some rather bad attempts at scottish accents, and indeed Simon Pegg & Andy Serkis' Irish accents too, it's really entertaining. Isla Fisher is stunningly beautiful throughout and Ronnie Corbert steals the movie for me, there's a huge amount of cameo's from the likes of Stephen Merchant & Paul Whitehouse, Jenny Agutter & Christopher Lee. Tim Curry is great in it even if his accent is flawed like the rest Jessica Hynes plays a brilliant drunk wife called lucky to Andy Serkis' Hare & there's a clean shaven Bill Bailey narrating the story who is probably the only actor that has a proper go at getting the Scottish accent right. Overall even with the rather macabre subject matter, it's being loosely based on real history was very appealing to me. They even show the real bones of Burke which are on show at the Museum of Anatomy in Edinburgh. I'd recommend it to others........but don't expect too much, it's a good film but could have been better. CG.

Dude... you're catching up.
Saw Iron Man 2, finally. I liked it, but the first half of the movie kinda drags a bit.
