We went to the Green Lantern this evening. The story is so so (superhero going to save everybody bladiebla) but the effects where great. And somehow those superhero movies never get bored although the story has been told over and over again for a thousand times. So yeah really enjoyed it.

william h. macy is absolutely brilliant in that movie. even tom cruise, who is actually a good actor sometimes - unbelievable he is such a weirdo in real life.

Donīt know how your mood has changed since "the incident", but that movie fits perfectly when you want to be alone... with a bottle of single malt scotch

Saw Troll Hunter today... and wow not what i was expecting at all! A really very interesting, gripping film with breaktaking norway scenery throughout. If you can put up with having to read subtitles it's a must for any filmwatcher. Very good CG too

Cowboys and Aliens. Went in with a smile (liking Jon Favreau's previous work, loving Harrison Ford, ILM for VFX). Came out annoyed, confused and bewildered.
Stupid, retarded pile of $&#$&. Seriously, how the hell........

Not exactly a movie, but watched the film in a new BBC series called Planet Dinosaur narrated by John Hurt.....
It's a documentary series which uses the latest CGI and cutting-edge research to reveal the truth about the terrifying world of dinosaurs, the episode begins in North Africa, where two of the world’s hugest predators once battled for supremacy. The Carcharodontosaurus was a massive beast, a lizard-like carnivore with shark-like teeth more than 6 inches long. The discovery of an upper jaw in Morocco though revealed an even bigger carnivorous killer called the Spinosaurus. The animal was over four metres longer than Tyrannosaurus rex and is thought to have been one of the hugest killers to ever walk on the planet. The Spinosaurus mainly ate fish and lived and hunted mainly in the water. The series tries to recreate what could of happened when the two animals came face to face competing for food. I have to say it looks visually stunning and all the Dino's looked great, some really cool CG. It wasn't until I looked into the making of the series i've found out that everything on screen was CG, I honestly couldn't believe it, the first noticable thing about the series is yes the Dino's are CG they move in a certain way that isn't possible with animatronics or puppetry, but also the lighting, vegetation, water, eating habits, attack bites, deformation of flesh in a kill and eaten, the skies, the landscapes all honestly is incredibly detailed!!! It was featured in 3D World Magazine last month too, where I found out they used huge texture maps for the closeups. Seriously guys if you like Dino's or simply want to be staggered with just about perfect computer generated imagery then I urge you to check it out. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...ur_Lost_World/

Some movies I've watched recently include Attack the Block (Horrible movie was actually rooting for the aliens to kill the main characters), Hanna (I actually quite liked this, good mix of action and intrigue) and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (Was quite good, hadn't realized it was a prequel though :S) |
