Nice concept Mateja.
I think that the angle is a bit strange, but possible, the meteor could be divided far away, and the angle can be almost parallel. But I agree with Zlatovous that the crater should be deeper. With this size, compared with the buildings, the collide should destroy all the city. I think you couldn't see any building still standing. You can use a smaller meteor or paint the scene just before the impact.

here is another version. I wanted to be more as a set extension scene(like i get this one from actual movie scene). I started it with 4:3 aspect ratio, because i am planing to do a camera projection with some friends of mine. Later whole scene will be in 2,35 :1 aspect ratio.

First i have started with basic plate

some color correction

and once i have found atmosphere i wanted i have started with set extension

this will be aspect ratio i am going for

Once i am done with set extension i will start with "city destruction". I had idea to show "after " scene. Maybe a huge wave, tsunami, crashed into city and some large tankers, ships created some mess.

the set extension is awesome and believable so far! The colour correction really sets this apart.
Cant wait for your updates + final.

i made main composition, but i wanted to see some sky in it, especially if i am going with camera projection(maybe this won't be seen in final matte paint version)

update

here is what i had in mind

Still allot of things to do before i go to "destruction" but this is important step concerning perspective, composition, color, etc.

Thats awesome M! I like the direction your headed. I'm also seeing the challenge that your going to get.

So far the perspective is quite not there yet but knowing you, I'm sure this will turn our awesome!

Good luck man! This could be a winning piece!

Thanks Eyecon. You remember "global warming" and "haunted", so this time i want to push this theme, and technique to the limit(i hope i will find enough time)
About perspective, yes i know it is off for now. But i will nail it once i find right photos(it will be easier if i know to work in 3d, but i like challenges).

I realised that perspective is way off on last update, so i needed to do it again. It was very difficult just with photo,
Now i am satisfied how everithing looks. Maybe some tweaking here and there.

Here we go

I also want to add some very high buildings in foreground, but need to find matching photos

Really nice start M!

Really digging your perspective. And I loved the atmosphere and color you had in your initial sketch with that deep red as the focal point.

I noticed that the buildings close to the horizon do not share the same third perspective point as the buildings in the foreground and middle ground. I am not sure if thats something you know about but just havent adressed yet but I thought I would let you know

Looking forward to more updates
