Amy of One - ranger
hey guys. this is my first post on this forum, so thought i might aswell enter one of the comps
gona be using ideas from warhamer 40k, such as the eldar rangers and imperial guard. Its gona be set in a sort of nuclear-winter, very cold so he'll be wearing his nice warm long-johns under his big fur coat. :P heres just the low poly base ill be workin from that i just made, 300 polys |

I'd work on your concept a little bit first, unless you already know where you are going. Also is that 300 polys or triangles as it looks like it's probably closer to 500 tris. When doing poly counts you should quote tris as that's what the 10,000 limit actually relates to

I like the proportions you're considering for this character. They're very... heroic.
I'd like to see some concept sketches, hope you can get em uploaded soon |

hey guys. ive so far given up on that concept and started a new one. ive decided to go for a flamethrower guy, lookin round the the WIP's i cant see any flamethrowers so im gona do that
i did a new concept sketch earlier. got halfway through colouring it and the pen tablet broke.... AGAIN. anyway, heres a half finished concept sketch of him, will finish it off when i get my tablet workin. hes looking quite simple atm, i will add more details later on. im also starting with a much more bulky looking base mesh, and then ill work on the rest of him in zbrush. bearing in mind this is actualy the first human model ive made in 3d, ive only been doing hard surface modelling up until now, so ill loook forward to the challenge ![]() |

Hey!
Nice concept there! Some advices which are could be ignored if you don't agree with them: you should decide, if you are going for simple things, or for some detailed model. http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=71098 this is a great example how you can do a "simple" idea in a great way. Or you can pick some complex thing, that works too. I also suggest you to check out some pictures of human anatomy, to get familiar with the proportions and the main muscles. http://images.google.hu/images?hl=hu...-8&sa=N&tab=wi once you have that, you should do your base mesh based on a good reference picture. These are pretty good for a start. Of course they are not perfect. If you are going for heroic proportions you should pick one from the comic males ![]() http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/humans/humans/ I hope that these links were helpful. If you didn't need any help, forgive me for bothering you. Looking forward on your progress ![]() |
