How do you buy max??

hey!!
i have just been on the discreet website to try and find out how much a copy of max costs these days.
problem is i can't find a price for it anywhere?
does anybody have a link to a page with it on, or maybe you know off the top of your head.
also , is it possible to buy older versions of the program for a little cheaper?

someone should tell discreet that their website is obviously not designed very well.

threedy forums!!! forums dedicated to people involved with various 3d modeling programs, of which a great many here use max! and not one person has answered the question, of how to get it, and how much it costs!

not that i aim 2 insult anyone, but i found it very funny.

Then go through the vast quanities of buttons (Software, Software Categories, 3D Design & CAD, 3d modelling & Animation then finally Discreet) to finally get to a price list. I tend to use these guys when ever my boss asks for a quote.
As I know you're at Demontfort Uni you can go in for the £150 student edition... that's £10 a month for a copy of MAX you lucky get!

Think i might invest in the student edition.
But i couldn't find anywhere that told me if it's still possible to buy older versions of max for a cheaper price?
anybody here know?
max 3 is good enough for what i need. ( just need to model pipes for installation drawings)

The chances of finding a copy of MAX 3 to buy is pretty much impossible, there's more chance of me winning the lottery this evening! As far as I know once a copy is licenced to someone it can't be sold on legally - or that was the case when MAX 3 was around? If you only need to model some pipes have you thought of something cheaper/shareware? I'm sorry I don't actually have any names to hand but have look through some previous posts/browse the web, I'm sure there's something that can do what you want for next to nothing!

jbw is right. In order for you to buy an older version of max you have to find someone who is selling it that never registered it.

Your best bet is to buy the educational version of max5.1. Using Max 3 when you can be using Max 5 is like using two sticks to start a fire instead of a zippo.
