Hi recently i have been asked to do a 7 second animation ofr a cable television show, problem is i have no idea what to charge for this sort of project,im thinking about 1000$ for all of it but im afraid i might overcharge or undercharge. Any suggestions?

Well if its a television company u can charge alot but serious i think it all depends on how complex the animation is. Is it cartoony or photorealistic. Does it cover alot of character animation or is a fly through. A little bit more details please

The animation is gonna be a vat of hot molten metal starts pouring the metal into a mold, then a hammer breaks the mold and then text they want lands on the floor superheated then cools down to reveal its metallic look. Heat was the overall idea of the project. So realistic is what they are looking for.Aside from that there wont be much in terms of background, just the action in the foreground.

You might want to try emailing Blur studios. Those guys have been in this business a long time (for those who don't know, Blur Studios programmers wrote the original raytrace engine in MAX and those same guys, Scott and Steve, went off to create Splutterfish and Brazil r/s. Cool huh?) and they have always been helpful to people trying to start up. Just email them with all the info you can, without making too much to read, and I wouldn't be suprized if they sent you some good advice. Good luck.
