Gotcha BigToe, I was thinking you might be able to apply a different diffuse to different sides of the double side poly, to overcome some the issue of light baked on the inside of a cape/skirt/etc. Perhaps not.

Hey, BiG ToE!

I'm still confused about the rules. The final entry images consist Winning shot and Beauty image (plus the other stuff), but the rules say that you can edit the Beauty only. I'w been reading the DW rules and they differ from 3D Totals some ways.

I see that you can have the Winning shot without post effects, but this should defenetly be the one to have them, right? ...and then the beauty shots (or presentation shots, as DW calls them) would have only screenshots from game engine. Probably front and back.

I was just wondering...

think of the Winning shot(3dtotal) as the Presentation shot for the Dom War, the only difference is you don't have to do a fron and back. And the beauty shot (3dtotal) as the the beauty shot for the Dom War. The beauty shot is the image you can do post effects on.

Also keep in mind that you don't have to show off your model in a game engine, but if you want to, all game engines are allowed. This also means, you can use any renderer you want to render out your character.

2-sided pollies, thats just a nerdy way of saying that you can apply backfacing to your model. So if you have a simple plan, only one side would recieve any texture space, but you can tun on the 2 sided texture option, so the texture shows on both sides.

seperate uv's, that comes into play with different types of texture maps. So, for your diffuse(main texture) you would have one uv layout, but lets say you don't want a part of your model to have any normal mapping at all, you could re-do the uv's for the normal map. Same thing for a spec map. In the end, there would be two uv layouts for the same model.
