I had to miss a lot of the details, like on the wheel and the model the skull.

Here is the breakdown of my timing:

Modeling chariot (Max)
-35 wheel
-13 car
-11 wheel axle

Modeling details (Zbrush)
-34 faces
-15 teeth
-0 skull
-36 arm modeling and simple rig

-36 final details

although i applaud your first attempt Z-brush is not a part of programs allowed for speed modeling challenge

Well, at least I have a chariot for my Demonic Overseer. =D

I think z-brush fits. It depends how you export to render. Its just like the creation of displacement maps and normal maps in an outside program, Right???

I really have no idea, but that's my 2¢ on the matter.

I found CG quotes.
"As sculpting is a form of modelling, it will count in the modelling time even if it's only used as displacement/normal maps/texturing. The whole idea of Speed Modelling is to model something in the preferred modelling software package of your choice. But if you want to add detailing with Z Brush/Mudbox you can do, but try model the majority of the entry normally ok."

You pretty much have your answer in the CG quote. Majority of the model should be done in the old fashioned modelling rather than sculpting. There is scultping challenge running after all. A challenge where you can go all out sculpting.

I think the big reason behind this distinction between modelling and sculpting is, that if you have both under one competition, you will have some challenges dominated by sculpting and some by modelling, as both are good for different things. If the topic of challenge under those circumstances favours scultping, modellers can really take a month off, as they will not stand a slightest chance. If the Zbrush and mudbox are openly unleashed on speed modelling competition, it will be pointless to participate without said software. And then... this competition will mutate into second sculpting challenge.

I have been competing here to pit my skill in modelling against other designers around the world, not sculptors. When I want to compete in sculpting, I will take it to the other challenge, as I will have nobody here to compete with. You could say this is a fencing competition, no bows allowed.

Just my opinion. I am not moderator or member of 3Dt staff
