Good idea, good start. Try to indicate some of the lava's luminance at the bottom of the isles. And some color variation in the sky/haze would be nice.

Oh yes thanks for ur advice, the point with the luminance will be done at the end i think when the lava is finished and the rocks got texture.. With the sky i have some problems i dont know how it could be. i have reduced the big rock on the left.. and worked a bit what do u think? ![]() ![]() Last edited by Secretpixelmedi; 30-01-2010 at 09:29 AM.. |

About sky: U can try use deep sunset sky, when sun just gone and only dark red and brown clouds are visible. Its all must be placed close to horisontal line and can be surrounded by your main brown color from all sides.
U dont have to, it just advice ![]() |

I think the big rock on the left actually kept the eye somehow better in the picture, since the visual path the eye takes followed the shape of the rock. Being smaller it's less dominant now and the eye tends to wander out of the picture on the left side. At least thats how I feel.
![]() As for the sky you could also darken top half of it quite a bit to indicate some dark hanging clouds and a really tight atmosphere where even the sun can't get through. The reddish tint to the haze you introduced feels very good. I wouldn't depict people directly, but maybe some small fires with smoke, like the small red dots on your first version. I'd suggest little less opacity for the orange ground haze/glow and adding some bounce light vom the lava hitting the bottoms of the small isles (just small orange-red brush patches/strokes to make them really sit in there)
![]() Good luck, Marc |
