Whats the best book/tutorial/website etc for learning 3D modeling?

I want to learn from the most up to date source for 3Dsmax. What I'm really looking for is anything that will teach me the tips and tricks I need to survive in the game industry. Also I know this is a site for that but I just want to learn from one source and one workflow right now, once I'm decent enough the tutorials on this site will no doubt be of use

I've delved into 3Dsmax many times before but it seems like the knowledge I learn doesn't seem to stick. So I'm hoping to find a step by step book that will teach me how to 3D model the best way, apply textures, setup lighting(really important), and rigging a character for movement and while I do want to learn animation too I figure it's best to take it slow and build up to that.

I read a thread that I found on google from another site suggesting this book so if all else fails hopefully this is a good one to start with. http://www.amazon.com/3ds-Max-Modeli.../dp/0240810619

But if anyone has any other books or tutorials that I can look at that would be great too

The tutorials that come with max. It are the most up to date tutorials for the package. And they fit the job perfectly.

Hmm,

The tools for modeling texturing rigging the possibility off the 3d package and the expectation of the game industry update day by day, so to survive in game industry or any other cg industry U must learn every day, keep U update with the latest every day, so there is no limit tin learning in Cg U must continuously learn and learn and practice.

Also there is no THE BEST WAY for modeling texturing ringing, every person have his own style that fit best for him/her, so I think is best to learn end explore multiple way to archive same thing and see what fit U best.

Other think is that no book, no quantity of tutorials will make U ready to survive in any cg industry, only practice will do that for U. Practice and practice and more practice. The books and tutorials learns U the ways and the tools and the methods, but to archive better and better results depends not so much of how many tutorials u will learn and how many books U will read but ho much u practice.

So my opinion is to learn and read how many books and tutorials U can from every source u can and practice and practice and practice ... then start reading and learning more
