yeah man
You make a good point Clue, GA seems to have the best voting system for these contests. I like the anonymous system rather than posting who you vote for as it sometimes seems to start a a trend in the following votes

I am definitely with you.The voting here is down right discouraging to be honest. So much good work put to the back of the bus. Definitely needs to be changed. |

1. armians: Model and texture is really sweet, great work.
2. Growl: Looks very good, but armians texture work was a tad better. 3. Fbios: Nicely done, I especially like the face. And Levus. High poly model looks amazing, really good. But the texture needs more work. Ps. there is a lot of good work in this comp, but there are some people that do better than others. Thats why they get so much votes. So if you don't get any votes it's not because you suck, it's just that there was people that did a better job in the challenge than you.

1 - armians : Great design, superb execution, clean construction. Textures could have more dirt/dust/grime.
2 - Growl : Absolutely screams "steampunk" to me. Really clean construction and excellent texturing. Textures could have more depth (better lighting could help). I would also like to see more poses. 3 - Fbios : I really like the clothing design, but not as "steampunk" as the other entries. Poses are very stiff. Honourable Mentions Warlock : Great work as always. Really awesome vehicle and technically fantastic work. I would love to see you get into normal maps. Levus : Really good lowpoly and bake. But the sculpting and textures feel a little flat and "muddy" to me. Insania : I love the colors and design, but it looks like you rushed the end result. Normal maps need to "pop" more. Great job everyone! |

Hey all! Very upset I didn't get to finish in time, but I'll see you guys at the next challenge
![]() As for the voting, I've been reading and also have thought about the voting system here. I admire the work and beautiful entries you guys finished for this challenge, I'd really like to see some certain people win of course, but I feel that this open voting system is unfair. By not voting, I feel I'm not leaving anyone out that I feel deserved a place. If the voting system were private, I'd leave my opinion then, but until that's changed, I cannot vote. I can only hope by luck now that you guys will win! Especially those of you that pushed yourselves beyond to submit a wonderful piece. Luck to everyone, and hopefully meet you again at the next challenge. ![]()

This has to be the hardest voting I've seen on this forum. I'm with TerraBite very upset I couldn't finish on time, but I'll be adding it to the portfolio. Everyone had a great time with this challenge just from all the final entries two thumbs-up for all of you, and good luck.
1) Growl 2) Armians 3) Warlock 279

it's really hard to make choices, because that challenge is really beautiful, I really spent some time doing my combinations and my ratings ... I found that three quarters of projects are worth! a lot of talent here!
so here are my choices: 1 - Growl (awesome work for me!) 2- Armians (textures & style are so nice!) 3 - Fbios 4 - Insania, Warlock, Levus I like your project too but I had to choose 3 unfortunately.

voting
I agree so much with IntheClue and Longhi there about the public voting system. I'm new to this forum and I'm not one of those popular ones here. I'm reading what others are saying about this popularity voting system being unfair and I have a feeling it seems true. this does seem to be a very unfair voting system. It seems people vote for people they know or friends with.
This should be about voting for an art work that you really like and not voting for something just because that person is your friend like some people are doing I noticed. I'm not saying everyone is doing this but I notice some are this way. If I have like 10 artists friends here in the forum that can vote and I tell them to vote for me and they did just cause they are my friends. Think about how that would be unfair to you. That's all I gotta say about this. Last edited by Arteyo; 01-02-2010 at 08:25 PM.. |

well there are 2 issues with what you said: 1: people don't look at the votes then make their votes. They look at the art, then make their votes. How can I say this. Well, when you load up the final entry page, the first thing you see is what, the art. So this means, you have an idea of what you like and dislike well before you make it to the voting. 2: Having your friends vote for you isn't helping you any, infact, it's making you worse. The only way to totally stop this friends voting for friends is to close the voting to a panel of judges. That removes the whole point of having a forum challenge, if the forum can't vote in the end. Most of the time, the people who complain about voting are the people not getting any votes. All I can say to that is, keep practicing, as you get better, the votes will follow. |
