Er... how does this solar powered drill work under ground? I'm assuming it will have to move down in order to make any kind of useful hole?

Or am i just unaware of ice drill specifications?

OK guys and gals let's try to address these questions. We want a drilling machine from you, we have mentioned that it is a solar drilling machine. Regardless of how the habitat might be on this planet the solar panels are fully charged and can drill for the next 12-24 hours. You can create a handheld driller say the size of a pneumatic drill all the way up to a factory drilling plant which drills millions of little holes or one big hole at once. You can even create a drilling machine with built in artificial sunlight continually beaming onto said panels.

If you read the rules it does state that you can texture your model(s)...however remember that this is essentially all about modelling....you are of course allowed beauty renders to help illustrate your model but it's all about modelling remember that.

acouple of questions;

1. I can work on this entry whenever I want as long as I hand it in before Sunday 11:59 pm (GMT) February 28th and only spend 240 min on it ?

2. Is the time used on the concept part excluded from the 240min time limit ?

Hi i got a question - can i create a rig that uses a laser to drill the holes which is powered buy the panels? i have a great idea if this is possible.

hehe dont forget the best use for a laser drilling platform is star trek :P

Actually the best laser drilling platform was the Death Star. They only used wrong drill size on Dantooine

Question: the 4 hour limit ... does it mean 4 hours strait? Can I do the model in stages let's say today, modeling tomorrow textureing, the day after tomorrow rendering?

Providing you keep track of where you are time wise you can model anytime you wish and go back to it throughout the month, just as long as when you add all those say half hours spanned over a time period add up to exactly or under the time limit.
