One of my avi files while recording the basemesh went corrupt. :[ I hope that doesn't cause any issues, I'll be able to provide 98% of the rest of the sculpt no problem.
I'll be posting an update probably tomorrow guys, I'm trying hard to make my sculpt look just like my concept. berendey - Really like the proportions. Should be an interesting sculpt ![]() Sathe - Very nice! I admire the face, it's turning out very well so far. Dack - That's a nice concept. I really like how you've changed it up a bit. Looking forward to the sculpt ![]() frostsnake - A very original concept, I wish I understood how he was related to the abominable snowman even just a bit more, seems more like he'd be seen under the low poly challenge. But still, nice sculpt ![]() liquidbear - Really nice work for not even 2 hours. Looking forward to more ^_^ Athidi - It's interesting, not a bad concept. If you can build more off of it, I'm very interested to see ![]()

Hi Gentlemen!
GREAT concepts so far, keep them comming! here´s my base meshes, and a pic of the first one at 120 minutes, Very simple concept and BG, i like the idea of trying to figure what humans would be after an Ice Age, So it will be closer to a traditional Bigfoot design mixed with a Neanderthal, At least i think..... The BG is simple: -From few Humans who survived the ice age -After many generations, it still an Ice Age -Able to survive extreme cold and stay with no food for days by keeping fat, -A Hunter, but an inteligent hunter, like a Neanderthal, who hunts with artefacts he has made, so it didn't developed Claws and fengs or something like that, looks more like a Human, -They live in small ice "houses" made by them, where te females and children stay better protected, togeter with the smaller males, the Bigger ones go for the hunting, -Simply a human evolved to live in the extreme conditons of an Ice Age, I've made 2 base meshes, as the contest rules allow, i'll try to do them both to choose the better one for my entry, |

Nice work Stoneking! I like the idea of abominable snowmans who are not completely savage and that are intelligent. Will you add some tools to them, like hunting weapons? Would be cool.
Wow, also your topology looks good, how did you achieve that with ZSpheres? I've been trying to do a good model, but my finger and toes are getting way to much edges, do you have a trick? If not it would be cool to see a bigger image of your Zsphere model to see what it look like. |

Stlye Sheet
Here is what I have sketched out for my pengabear cusin to the owlbear.
I might give him items like a staff or something.Maybe give him some kind of native look. Dont know if I want it to be a wild monsters or a smart peacful race let me know what you all think. |

![]() I'm not in my computer right now but latter i'll post the pics for you to see, BUT the topology you see in the pics are already "sculpted" a little, If you notice, there's a "Huge" ZSphere right before the toes, And what happens is that the Adaptive Skin gets really high near the toes, But also covers all the distance of the 5 fingers which is a great benefit, I found it is easy and best to reduce it with the move tool than stretch too much the mesh, trying to get a nice topology straight from the ZSphere is way to dificult, So the toes come from a single huge ZSphere, If i make sense LOL Anyway i'll post the pics latter and you gonna se exactly what i mean ![]() I'll also post the pic of the adaptive skin straight from the ZSpheres, Cheers Mighty Fernando |

AH, sorry i forgot about the edges Mighty,
You gonna notice that theres much more edges in the fingers and toes then in the rest of the mesh, i don't now how to fix this in ZBrush, But you can export your low mesh to other aplication such as MAYA and delete this extra edges easaly, And also i found it is good to ADD some edges to the face topology, What happens in my ZSpheres meshes is usualy, too much edges in the fingers and toes and the need of edges in the face, Cheers Fernando |

Here you can see that it happens in my mesh also, Too many edges in the fingers-toes and a mess in the feet-hands, What you can do not to loose too much of your computer capacity when subdividing, spending too much topology in a single place is, before sculpting go to another 3D aplication and delete some edges, In my case i use some little tricks to be able to have more subdivisions and sculpt details without have to go for HD sculpting, and later i retopo the mesh, What i usualy do is split the mesh in two subtools, in a place where a seam woudn't be a problem, And then i'll be able to have more subdivisions, Because it's dificult for the computer to handle huge subdivisions in one single mesh but splitted is not a problem ![]() And if you use PROJECT ALL in the subtool menu you can still have subdivisions in the splitted subtools ![]() I hope i make sense now ![]() Cheers Fernando Last edited by Stoneking; 05-02-2010 at 11:17 PM.. |

This is now clear for me, thanks alot again Fernando! Didn't knew that with different subtools we could have more faces than with a single mesh without the program crashing, that's a cool trick. I've followed this challenge since only 5 days and already got the impression I have learned a lot
![]() Will try to make a decent base for sculpting with these techniques this weekend if I have the time. |
