matte/shadow

is there a way to make an object 'immune' to matte/shadow. I know this isn't very clear, but what i'm trying to say is that I have objects in my scene, that I want to disappear with matte and one object that I must not disappear. so is there a way to make even when you place an object with a matte texture in front of another object, so that object doesn't disappear. thank you

No.

Maybe if you post a pic of what you're trying to do then we can help you figure out a work around.

yeah okay maybe is there a way to do it otherwise. the thing is, that I have made a bullet with alot alot of rings behind it (like in the matrix) but they have to 'appear' when the bullet have passed them. what is the best way to show the rings one for one behind the bullet?

add a visibility track for each ring.

You can do this two ways, you can either right click the object, go to properties and animate the visibility spinner (must have autokey turned on for this).

or

In the trackview you can manually add a visibility track and set keys where the object will be visible and invisible. Basically, a value of 1 is visible and a value of 0 is invisible. I'm not going to go into a lengthy explaination on this because it's all in the max help files. Hit F1, and search for visibility tracks.

There is a bullet time script out there. You can probably find it at www.scriptspot.com I've never tried it so I'm not sure what it does.
