Ok, I have a pretty sweet idea and I'm xferring it into digital format now, but I want to touch it up. Visual updates to follow shortly.
::EDIT:: I finally got the scanner to work so I uploaded the concept to here! Last edited by setschaos; 09-02-2010 at 10:41 PM.. |

The scanner isn't working, so I jumped right to sculpting, so here's my WIP. It's a worm and the three dots are its eyes, the holes in the head are placeholders for the mandibles also attached.

Ok, quick update before I retire for the night, birthday party really hampered how much I got done tonight. This IS low poly, I invested about 6k tris into the head and the rest will be for a partialy submerged body which will be worked over with much Zbrush detail to make up for the 3.5k body. Only a normal map and Vray lights in this scene, diffuse will come after full modeling is done.

UPDATE!: woo. Ok here's the latest; another quick vray render as well as a wire attached. It looks a little heavy, but its hovering around 8k tris atm. Leaves space for what little odds and end I'm going to add.

wow, looks really awesome so far! Pretty frightening worm
Maybe more mandible/arm/feeler things down his stomach? Or spines down his back |

Been doing a lot of unwrapping and foundation texture work, but just as a bump to the thread, I was giving some though on how to flavor up the outline a bit, take a pick guys!
#1: Short coarse bristles #2: Long flowing tendrils #3: Classic spikes |

I would go with number 3, the spikes fit more to how the character looks right now.
Cheers. |

I think hair and fur is more appropriate for the theme. I pick #1

Sadly this will probably help little considering the other comments, but I thought 2 would look the best...

I also like 2 as well. Now that everybody has picked all the options, it should really make it easy for you to pick
![]() Either way, great progress so far, and probably whatever option you pick will work.

...spikes are boring, fur could work, but there's gonna be a lot of fur flying. I'm really liking the tendrils tho so...#2.

Hey guys, quick question: I'm using VRay renderer in Max and I'm trying to do an opacity map and I've found how to do it with the refract settings in the material editor; but I have a second issue that is simultaneous, I have a secondary bump map separate from the normal map and VRay materials don't support two map slots for normal/bump. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
:::EDIT::: Nevermind, I bow to Google; figured it out ^_^ Last edited by setschaos; 09-02-2010 at 10:33 PM.. |
