hello. this is my first entry in this forum. hopefully it will go well. its also my first time trying out Zbrush fully so we will see how that goes. my concept is a mutated walrus who managed to survive the ice storm. being a well padded and armed animal i figured they would be the ones to survive. feel free to C&C. any useful tips on Zbrush would be great as well. thanks

zbrush link:
http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/
And i also suggest to watch some youtube stuff.

I think that the crystals are too much alike. There should be a litt difference between them. Shape, and thickness.

Its not lucky to define the eye as a box, so i think it would be a good idea to divide it further. as well as the other parts of the animal.

The overall size, and proportion is i think cool.

Good luck on zbrush!

Hehehe, funny guy. Don't forget to blend the skin a bit more with those crystals.

Hi Lord, the head is going pretty well, but for the body and tail I think you're a bit off. Compare with below image.

it's coming along, however, what I think your body needs is mass definition. Right now it looks like a big blob that looks like the master chief came by and smacked it down with a needler... Take some time to go back and make use of your standarrd[sub] tool to make more of a crease inbetween the fat rolls and the limbs and then go through and use the pinch[sub] tool to tighten up t hose creases to make them even better.

Also, one other bit of advice that I was so nicely given last competition; try not to use the standard red clay matcap for your model, it doesn't give you the drastic shadows that you would like to see with your high density mesh topology. Try using one of the metal matcaps given in the standard library.

For one, its a competition so no one should teach you how to improve your work, you entered a contest. People are suppose to give critiques and all I said was, its a funny creature. Tbh, I don't think you brainstormed the idea very well. Heres a suggestion, maybe mutate the walrus a little more? Give it 4 eyes or 6 legs or something so its more original because right now all I see is an ordinary walrus with some some ice crystals on its back. My earlier post was meant in good humor =/ Sorry if this offends you, it is not my intentions. But as an artist, we should be ready to face harsh criticism.

Would it be correct of me to assume that you are just getting started in the 3d world? If so, you should have mentioned it in your first post. If not, then thats ok too, we all have room to improve.
