SMC M#04 - AndrewQ - Solar Ice Blaster
For this contest I wanted to do a Ratchet and Clank style weapon: Totally ridiculous and really terrible physics that only work when you aren't looking too closely.
So the way this device works is the user collects light (palm up), the glove stores the power, and allows the user to "drill" through the ice, Hadoken style. not sure if concept counts in the time limit, but I spent about 1 hr on drawings and 45 mins in maya so far. oh yeah, anybody know a quick, clean way to punch holes in a poly face? For example, the holes the buttons would be sitting in on the control panel. The way I usually do it takes forever.

There's actually quite a few "clean" ways to go about this rather than going for the boolean. Here's two ways below, I haven't got time to do anymore this were knocked up quickly while I had a few mins free. I'm sure other Maya using members can help you especially who'll know your software as it's better that the method is specific to your software of choice as I only know how to do this within Cinema 4D
![]() Method 01 - Starting with a disc ![]() Method 02 - Starting with a plane ![]() Kind Regards CG.

haha that looks sweet, though i think it may be more convenient if the buttons were on the glove itself rather than a separate remote

looking good, too thin for a hand to fit in, especially @ the part of the console dashboard that's wrapped around the glove.

for some reason the handle on the glove makes me smile, almost look like an accelerator for a bike of something like that.

sarn: yeah the remote was going to be more of an inset panel, ran out of time.
rocneatsa: yeah agreed. I exaggerated the extrusion way too much. begn: Yeah I was thinking you have to rev up the glove to build up energy alfonzoaqui: me neither! |
